Selected Readings 1993-2003
|
This selection of articles from the first 10 years of IJME provides a glimpse into the concerns and debates in
medical ethics over a decade that saw the beginning of turbulent times for healthcare in India. The period saw
a marked expansion of private healthcare services in the country, along with which came spiralling costs.
Along with a huge growth in the number of medical colleges, this period also saw medical students who had
invested lakhs of rupees on their education, which would have to be recovered soon after graduation. These
and other challenges to ethical healthcare are articulated in the readings provided below:
- Introduction
- Personal Integrity
- Communication
- Medical Technology and Social Justice
- Research Ethics
- Policy and Public Health
